I'm Angela Beesley Starling, a co-founder of Wikia. Since 2004, Wikia has been supporting the creation and development of thousands of wikis. We look after more than 80,000 wikis in 188 different languages, including many of the world's largest community-created wikis such as Wookieepedia, the Star Wars Wiki, WoWWiki an 80,000 article encyclopedia about the World of Warcraft, and LyricWiki, a wiki with lyrics to more than 1 million songs. Wikia is also developing a Question & Answers site where 130,000 questions have been answered.

I am a member of the Advisory Board of the Wikimedia Foundation, the non-profit organisation responsible for Wikipedia, Wikibooks, Wikimedia Commons, and the other Wikimedia projects. Prior to this, I was an elected trustee of the Wikimedia Foundation. I have been a volunteer editor at Wikipedia since February 2003.

I contributed a chapter on managing wikis to the book Wikis: Tools for information Work and Collaboration which was edited by Jane Klobas and published by Chandos, Oxford in June 2006. An Italian version was published in 2007 under the title Oltre Wikipedia.

I've given presentations and keynote talks about wikis, communities, and collaboration on 7 continents to groups ranging from student activists to corporate and government audiences. I also volunteer as a member of the Wikimania team, having been on the program committee between 2004 and 2008, and on the scholarships committee in 2009.

My background before wikis was in psychology. I previously worked as an educational researcher and developer of student assessments.

I'm originally from England and moved to Australia in 2005. I married Tim Starling in November 2008. We live on the Central Coast in New South Wales.
